Sticker on the apple

Carlee says the most random things. She was cutting an apple and said to herself (when I was close enough to hear), "That's stupid to put a sticker on an apple when people are just gonna eat it. Now I have to peel this thing off and I'm having a hard time doing it. If people would just not put it on there then I wouldn't have this trouble. Geez!" She cracks me up.

My Gutower (Guitar)

Carlee wrote this at the beginning of 3rd grade. Carlee has a very hard time spelling but can read almost anything. I get the feeling that this was written quickly or while she was distracted. I had her read it to me and I typed what she said below the one she wrote.

I got my gutower at crismis. I awes wonted a gutowe becuse when I was 3 I wunted to be a rock star. After that I stared sining. I sowed my flamy and freds. Then I trned 4 thats when I got my micfond. Ii takes a lot of work you don't want to noiw how hard it is. Frst you think of wods then you got all your words. You haf to make toon you allsow need a band.
Then you haf to got a recred dell when you pform in front of the odes. It is rely scery but wont you do it agen and agen and agen.

I got my guitar at Christmas. I always wanted a guitar because when I was three I wanted to be a rock star. After that I started singing. I showed my family and friends. When i turned four that's when I got my microphone.
It takes a lot of work. You don't want to know how hard it is. First you think of words. Then you go tell your words. You have to make a tune. You always need a band.
Then you have to get a record deal. When you perform in front of the audience it is really scary but when you do it again and again and again you won't be nervous.

Carlee's 8th Birthday

Carlee invited Maggie, Mikayla, Kylie, Ashley, and Sean (who is one of her and Cade's best friends). He played with Cade a lot and then Cade had a sleep over at Sean's so he wouldn't bug the girls.
Carlee wanted a swim party. We started off by eating Barros Pizza and then heading over to Sandy and Randy Carder's house for the kids to swim. (Carlee called waaaay ahead of time all by herself and asked Sandy permission to have a swim party at her house- was really cute!) They swam for a while and then we headed back home. I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of this.

When we returned home the kids painted some little plaster animals.

Will got the fog machines out and turned out all the lights and then we couldn't see at all- not even the lights shining in from outside. Then he started throwing glow in the dark necklaces into the fog and the kids were screaming - they were having so much fun. But then the smoke detectors started going off. The kids had a blast. They painted pillowcases. They all turned out really cute.

After that I tried to get them to watch a girly movie but it didn't work very well. At 3 am I was still yelling downstairs to tell them to be quiet. They were really pooped the next morning when their moms came. Carlee had a GREAT time at her slumber party!

Disastrophe

Carlee just said the funniest thing to me- she said it was a "disastrophe" (disaster and catastrophe combined, I'm assuming) that a long time ago she had her soccer games at the same time that Cade had his T-ball games. I love it when she comes up with these new words- but she gets so offended if I say anything about them being funny or cute so I've learned to just keep my mouth shut.

Carlee's Baptism

Carlee I am so glad you made the choice to be baptized. You are such a sweet girl who is always trying to be closer to your Heavenly Father. I hope you stay this way. Don't stray away for it is hard to find your way back. You had such a wonderful day yesterday at your baptism. One thing I will always remember is when daddy and I walked you back into the font and it was just the three of us. Daddy was about to escort you down into the water and you just stopped and then started crying. We thought you were scared. Daddy and I kind of looked at each other- both of us thinking "Uh Oh". Then you looked up at us and said you were "just so happy". I hope you remember the feelings you had on such a wonderful day. You are a very spiritual girl. Now you have the Holy Ghost to guide you when you are feeling down or having troubles. What a wonderful gift you have been given. Mommy and Daddy love you so much and hope you choose right in all you say and do and are a good example for those around you- especially Cade and Cloee!

Carlee's Funny

The other day Carlee asked me a question and I answered and then asked her "Why?" and she said, "Oh I just wanted to wonder." It was so cute. I had to giggle. I guess she meant to either say, "I was just wondering." OR "I just wanted to know." She was so serious and it was really funny that she flubbed her words all up.

Oh the Sweetness!!!

If Carlee could watch TV all day and all night then she would be in heaven. I can't stand the sitcoms with the laughing in the background so she is out of luck a lot of times because I am constantly telling her to turn off the TV. She gets upset but oh well. She also likes to make messes but doesn't really like to clean them up. Very different than her brother. I think she figures she is just going to play with everything again so she might as well leave it all out.

Jet skiing with the Burkes

I went on the jet skis yesterday with my mom, my dad, my brother and me. I rode with dad. My brother rode with my mom. I had a very good time.
One time we went jet skiing just me and my dad, and Brother Burke and Zack and Britain came too. My dad kept going over these jumps and kept jumping the jet ski. It was scary because I was sitting in front of him and there's nothing really to hold on to. Sometimes he would pretend that he was gonna run the jet ski right into the rocks but he was just tricking me. Me and Britain and Zack had fun. My dad dared us to swim across the shore to the rocks. Me and Britain did it. It was easy but kind of far, about 2 miles. We earned $2 from my dad for doing it. We ate lunch on a sandy land. I found lots of seashells and Britain and Zack found pretty rocks. Then we headed back on the jet skis and my dad went to go get the Excursion to load up the jet skis. After that we left and we had fun. The end.

Will and I often talk about what kind of car we want to get Carlee when she turns 16. Will wants to get her a Jeep Wrangler. I say a slug-bug- one of the new ones. Even though I think she would look so cute in one I think they are too small for a brand new driver. Carlee says she wants a truck or an Excursion.
Last year she was telling me that she wanted a truck when she grows up so when she gets off work she can throw her quad in the back of the truck and meet her dad at the dunes. Funny, huh!?

When I was pregnant with Carlee I liked the names Brooklyn, Ashlyn, and Madalyn(one of my best friends' middle name is Lyn); I also liked Madisyn, Julia, Lyla and Alexa. Will liked the names Heather, Amanda, and Jessica (all names of his previous girlfriends- go figure!). My mom suggested Carly and we both liked it a lot. We pictured a cute, little, curly-haired blond girl prancing around. I wrote all the different spellings: Carly, Carlie, Carli, Carley, and Carlee. We finally decided to spell it 'Carlee' - after my mom, her middle name is 'Lee'. Plus I wanted something just a tad different. I had a few people tell me they knew many little girls with that name but I mostly have heard 'Kaylie' and 'Kylie'. Carlee's middle name is a family name. It is Rose. My great grandma's name is Rosario (from Spain) and we always called her Grandma Rosie. She had the funnest spanish accent, not the spanish accents we are used to from those from Mexico, a real spanish accent straight from Spain; and she always said, "Yes, My Love" when talking to any of us kids. My younger sister, Tricia, is named after her as well- her middle name is Rose. So I guess we decided to go with the family name for the middle name.

Jesus Is Coming Soon

I was laying in bed watching TV one night last week and Carlee came in (after she was already put to bed) to give Cloee and me another kiss goodnight. I like to watch CNN and Nancy Grace and those types of news shows while I lay in bed and so Carlee started watching with me. They were saying that there was a massive earthquake in China and that thousands were dead. Then they went on to say that there was also a cyclone in Myanmar which killed tens of thousands. Carlee turned to me and said, "Oh great mom, I think Jesus is coming very soon because of all this bad weather and people dying and stuff. I hope he comes after I get baptized though." Smart girl!

Swim parties are famous!

Carlee, this morning we were talking about all the birthday parties you have this weekend. There are a total of 4, 5 if you count the fact that Connor and Cassidy's are combined. Tonight is Sean's, tomorrow morning is Cassidy and Connor's, tomorrow afternoon is a girl from your 2nd grade class and then Sunday afternoon is for the 2 little girls that live next door to Kenny and Kyle. Anyways, all of them are swim parties except Cassidy and Connor are having a bowling party. You looked at me and said, "Wow mom, swim parties are sure famous!" You were so serious so I couldn't laugh. But it was sure cute. I think what you meant to say is that swim parties are popular.

2nd Grade Field Trip to Phx Zoo

Sorry I couldn't go to the zoo field trip with you, big sis. I thought about meeting you there with Cloee and Cade but decided it was gonna be too hot for the baby. I know you had fun with Daddy as your chaperone.
School is almost out and you will be kissing 2nd grade goodbye. Are you ready for 3rd? Cursive handwriting here you come. But first we have some summer fun to take care of...

"Wish I Was Moved Out With a Husband"

You crack me up Carlee. Tonight Grammy and Tia (aka Aunt Rozanne, we're still getting used to calling her Tia) were here helping me get food and the house ready to have Cloee's blessing here on Sunday. We were in your room and Tia was picking up a few toys, making your bed (even though it was midnight), etc., and I was putting clean clothes in your drawers. I came across a few things that looked too small so I called you upstairs to ask you about these few items. If they didn't fit I would pack them away. I am 100% positive that you did not intend to answer me and come upstairs. But Daddy heard me call you and he told you to go see what I wanted. You weren't happy when you got upstairs. I started to ask you about the clothes and you got mad and asked why I couldn't just yell over the stairs about it. Grammy, Tia, and I all started to talk at the same time about the fact that I needed you up in your room to take a look at the clothes and you said, "I wish I was gone. I wish I was moved out and married with a husband already so I wouldn't have to do things like this." I think you were gonna say something to the effect of wanting to be gone by running away but you caught yourself. You have been saying that lately and Daddy and I just started telling you that we would help you pack your bags and it was fine if you wanted to try going elsewhere. I'm not so sure you liked that. It's not the response you look for when you say you wanna leave or run away. So anyways, then you left and went back downstairs. These are the typical things you say on a daily basis. You don't want to have to lift a finger for anything. Even if it is your mess. If a Froot Loop drops when you pour you cereal you have some reason why it's the cereal's fault. You are somethin' else I tell ya! It was funny because Rozanne, Grammy and I all started talking about how different your life will be when you are in fact "moved out" and when you have a husband. It is hard work being a housewife. Good luck to you when your turn comes around! Despite your sassy mouth I love you anyway, my sweet big sis!
PS- In your defense it was very late and so that probably contributed to your grouchiness.

Get up Carlee!

Carlee it drives me nuts that you don't like to get up in the morning for school. If daddy comes in and tickles you and plays with you then you get up just fine. But if I try to do that stuff then you kick me and you say this funny thing in kind of a grunting voice, "Huh uh!". The funny thing is that I was just like that as a kid, my mom had the hardest time getting me up for school. Paybacks I guess. Do you think you will ever change? I haven't, so I doubt it.
